Where Your Donation Goes

pie chartOur nonprofit organization is dedicated to improving the lives of Kansas City students. To make that possible, we keep our overhead expenses low so that your donations can go directly to the programs in need. Unless donor-specified, donations are dispersed throughout our Scholarship, Teaching For Learning programs and Educational Enrichment Grants.

Donors Program

The work we do would not be possible without the generous contributions and support of the community. We rely on our Believe pledge drive, Reasons to Believe Gala and other fundraising efforts to make this happen.

Believe Campaign

Each spring, teachers and students will be able to donate generously to our Believe fundraising campaign. In January, internal employees give generously to this drive that helps fund our Enrichment Grant and Teaching For Learning programs. Teachers often arrange payroll deductions so that money from their paychecks can be automatically contributed to the Foundation through these specific programs.

Reasons To Believe Gala

The Reasons to Believe Gala was established in 2002 to connect KCK Alumni with current teachers and students in the KCKPS District. This is a night of celebration for students and alumni to take pride in KCK.

Ways To Give

There are many ways to make a gift to the Foundation. Your generosity will not only benefit the students and teachers of the Kansas City Kansas School District, but may also provide you with certain tax benefits. The following descriptions are just some of the ways you can contribute to the Foundation. Please contact us for additional ways to give.

  • Gifts of Cash — Contributions may be made directly to the Foundation. Checks should be payable to the Kansas City Kansas School Foundation for Excellence.
  • Make an Online Donation — Donate online at Greater Kansas City Community Foundation
  • Gifts of Real Estate — Gifts of a home or farm to a charity receive special treatment under the Internal Revenue Code. You may retain the right to reside on the property and derive income from the property (such as a farm).
  • Donor-advised Funds — Donor-advised funds are provided by donors to support specific projects or needs at one or more schools.
  • Matching Gifts — Many employers maintain a matching gift program. Your employer may make a contribution to the Foundation that will match your gift. Check with your employer prior to making your donation to determine the terms and requirements of its matching gift program.
  • Planned Giving Plan — Remembering the Kansas City, Kansas School Foundation for Excellence in your will and other planned giving vehicles helps do just that. Our staff and advisors are available to work with your financial advisors in achieving your personal charitable-giving objectives. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Planned giving includes gifts of life insurance, retirement accounts, appreciated assets, gifts from your estate, charitable remainder trusts or charitable lead trusts.
